    ICMR's Drones Successfully clear Trial Mission of Blood bags Delivery ICMR's Drones Successfully clear Trial Mission of Blood bags Delivery Content Editor: Dr. Sangya Chaudhary May 23, 2023 Press Information Bureau Newer Initiatives, ICMR, iDrone The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR ) has successfully conducted a trial run of delivering blood bags by drones under its iDrone initiative . The iDrone was first used during the COVID-19 pandemic for distributing vaccines to unreachable areas. Following the successful delivery of blood and blood-related products, Investigators from LHMC, GIMS, and JIIT will conduct further drone flight trials to validate the quality of packed red blood cells, FFPs, and platelets in this study. This study's results will provide scientific evidence from India to examine the impact of drone transportation on blood products. These findings will lead to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for wider applicability.

    WHO checklist for the institutionalization of EPIM: A pilot project WHO checklist for the institutionalization of EPIM: A pilot project Content Editor: Dr. Himabindu Reddy October 23, 2023 WHO News Section Global health, WHO, Public health, Health systems research To pilot a checklist to institutionalize evidence-informed policy-making (EPIM), the following organizations are teaming up: The World Health Organization (WHO) The Evidence for Policy and Practice Information and Coordination Centre (EPPI-Centre) at University College London The Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR) This WHO project aims to improve policy-making procedures in addition to other areas. The project aims at increasing their efficacy, equity, and efficiency. In the first phase, a thorough scenario analysis akin to an exploration mission will be conducted with the help of: Scoping review Focus groups discussions Key informant interviews A participatory workshop will be hosted in each nation as the focal point in the second phase. The checklist will be piloted in two countries in the WHO European region and the American region from October 2023 to September 2024. By the end of this project, each nation will have: A cooperative plan An analysis of the facilitators and barriers to the institutionalization of EIPM

    Inauguration of new facilities at NEIGRIHMS to advance healthcare Inauguration of new facilities at NEIGRIHMS to advance healthcare Content Editor: Dr. Rashmi Verma January 11, 2024 Press Information Bureau Health Infrastructure, Northeast Region, Quality Healthcare Services, Universal Health Coverage Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, inaugurated a range of new facilities at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS). This includes a Regional Cancer Centre, Undergraduate Medical College, and Modular Operation Theatres. These new facilities at NEIGRIHMS aim to improve healthcare in Meghalaya. This will subsequently lead to an increase in medical course seats and reduce the necessity for residents to seek treatment outside the region. The addition of a 150-bed Critical Care Block, focusing on infectious diseases, aligns with the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. This will ensure uninterrupted hospital care during outbreaks. These developments signify significant progress in delivering quality healthcare to Meghalaya and the Northeast.
