    India gears up for the rising COVID-19 cases. Content Editor: Dr. Sathya Prashaath January 11, 2024 at 12:30:00 PM COVID 19 The Union Health Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, chaired a high-level meeting to review the COVID-19 situation in India . The preparedness of the public health system was also assessed, including key points such as: Surveillance. Containment. Management of COVID-19. The Union Health Minister stressed the need to be alert and prepared against new and emerging strains of COVID-19 , especially considering the upcoming festive season. He urged states to ramp up testing and refer samples of COVID-19-positive cases to INSACOG labs for genome sequencing to track new variants . Following the meeting, the officials have been asked to undertake mock drills every three months at the central and state levels . This will be done to assess the functionality of medical equipment and oxygen supplies. States are urged to create awareness, manage infodemic, and ensure dissemination of factually correct information. Previous Next

    Scan and Share: Streamlining OPD registrations in India Scan and Share: Streamlining OPD registrations in India Content Editor: Shayari June 22, 2024 Press Information Bureau Digital Health, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission ABHA's Scan and Share service, launched in October 2022 under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), streamlines patient registration. Patients simply scan a QR code at OPD counters, automatically sharing their ABHA profile for registration. The benefits of this Scan and Share service includes: Eliminates long queues , which is especially helpful for vulnerable groups. Faster and more efficient registration process . Secure way to share patient information . Over three crore OPD registrations have been completed using Scan and Share, now operational in over 5435 healthcare facilities across 35 states. The ABDM Public Dashboard shows high usage in AIIMS Delhi, Bhopal, Raipur, and Bhubaneshwar. Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Jammu & Kashmir are leading the way in adopting Scan and Share. In the future, Scan and Share will be implemented at pharmacy counters and laboratories . New services like "Scan and Send " (sharing health records) and "Scan and Pay " (making payments) are planned to streamline healthcare processes further. Click here to read more.

    Can telehealth follow-up improve hypertension control? - study findings Content Editor: Dr. Prayag Khandelwal January 15, 2024 at 4:02:19 PM Hypertension, Non-Communicable Diseases, Research Findings According to 2019 Indian estimates, only 17.3% of treated men and 18.5% of women successfully manage their BP. Participants receiving phone calls from doctors and clinics saw over a two-fold increase in follow-up during a recent study in Mumbai. A year-long study conducted by PATH and Resolve to Save Lives in Mumbai showed that adherence to hypertension treatment medication required more than just a prescription. The results of the study were as follows: 82% of the patients visited the clinic for follow-up within one month of receiving a phone call, which was meant to reinforce treatment adherence. BP control rates among those who received the call increased from 23.6% to 48.8%. The study concluded that a phone call from the clinic increased the rates of follow-ups in hypertensive patients.
