    The associations between COVID-19 vaccination and sudden deaths. The associations between COVID-19 vaccination and sudden deaths. Content Editor: Dr. Himabindu Reddy November 30, 2023 Indian Journal of Medical Research COVID-19, ICMR, vaccination, AEFI A multicentric study involving 47 hospitals across the nation studied 729 unexplained deaths between October 2021 and March 2023. The study aimed to examine the link between the COVID-19 vaccination and death. Data about the COVID-19 vaccination was collected from next of kin after identifying cases of sudden death in apparently healthy individuals. Four healthy controls from the same age group and locality were also studied for every case. The study concluded that: Two doses of vaccination improved the odds of survival from COVID-19 infection Sudden deaths were three times more common in those with a family history of sudden deaths Lifestyle factors like alcohol, smoking, and drug use were significantly associated with sudden deaths There was no significant association between COVID-19 vaccination and sudden death

It reveals that 85% of countries criminalize wildlife offenses, with 45% imposing severe penalties of four or more years in prison. The report highlights progress in environmental laws but also notes enforcement gaps. Wildlife and waste crimes are most frequently criminalized, while soil and noise pollution are least protected. The UNODC report examines how 193 UN Member States define and penalize environmental crimes. It highlights legal discrepancies, noting that businesses often receive fines while individuals face imprisonment. It calls for stronger laws, including confiscation of crime proceeds, to target major offenders. This review article concentrates on the need to integrate HIV control activities with primary health care. Integrating these will assist in achieving the goal of ending AIDS by 2030. The benefits of integrating are as follows: The cost of health services tends to be lower There are increased odds of adherence to treatment The integrated services have been shown to improve HIV care and primary health outcomes. Most commonly, maternal and child health and non-communicable disease services have been integrated with HIV services. The following changes are needed for easier integration and will increase the sustainability of the HIV epidemic control.     WHO's financial Transformation: The fit-for-future initiative WHO's financial Transformation: The fit-for-future initiative Content Editor: Dr. Anubhav June 4, 2024 WHO News Section International Health, Funding, Health Organizations The World Health Organization was left dependent on voluntary, frequently earmarked, and unpredictable contributions to fund its operations by 2022–2023. This dynamic led to uncertainty and inefficiencies throughout the organization . By then, Member States assessed that these contributions (membership dues) only comprised 13% of the Organization's budget. One of the main suggestions the Member State-led WHO Working Group on Sustainable Financing made to transform WHO into a dependable, sustainable, and adaptable funding body was to hold an investment round. The Investment Round has received a US$ 4 million completely flexible fund from Qatar. It was announced that Norway, Germany, and France would co-host the Investment Round.     CPR revolution: unveiling scenario-based video for life-saving skills CPR revolution: unveiling scenario-based video for life-saving skills Content Editor: Dr. Kishore January 25, 2024 Press Information Bureau Health Education, Health literacy Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya launched a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Awareness Program by NBEMS This program was launched in response to increased cardiac deaths among the younger population in the country. This CPR initiative provides the public with adequate knowledge to save a person’s life at the earliest possible time when he/she is having a cardiac arrest This program was attended by more than 20 lakh people through an online medium, along with trained doctors at the venue explaining the techniques of CPR and answering queries. To continue this Initiative, NBEMS has launched a scenario-based CPR Awareness Video focusing on the steps to be followed in CPR when a person is having a cardiac arrest with a certificate of participation Click here to read more
