Due to winter weather, some snow-bound areas in Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will have an earlier reference date of October 1, 2026. This official declaration now paves the way for preparations to begin for one of the world's largest and most crucial administrative exercises.

    Listeria outbreak in US: 10 deaths reported Listeria outbreak in US: 10 deaths reported Content Editor: Dr Ghurumourthy October 3, 2024 Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, Centre for Disease Control and Prevention Food poisoning, Outbreak, Infectious disease A Listeria outbreak linked to Boar’s Head deli-sliced meats, including liverwurst, has led to 59 confirmed cases and 10 deaths across 19 states in the US. Contaminated meats produced between June and July 2024 have been recalled, and consumers are advised to discard these products or return them. Listeria spreads easily through deli surfaces and equipment and can survive refrigeration, but it is killed by reheating food to 165°F. High-risk individuals, including pregnant women, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems, have been advised to avoid deli meats unless properly reheated. Businesses have been recommended to keep clean and sanitize deli areas thoroughly. Click here to read more

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM ) aims to provide quality health services by creating an online platform to ensure the interoperability of health data and maintain a longitudinal Electronic Health Record (EHR) of every Indian citizen.

    Central Trade Unions Urges Union Govt to ratify ILO Occupational Safety and Health Convention - 2006 Central Trade Unions Urges Union Govt to ratify ILO Occupational Safety and Health Convention - 2006 Content Editor: Dr. Himabindu Reddy December 6, 2023 ILO Report Occupational Health, Accidents and Injuries, OSH Framework, ILO The ILO's latest report titled 'A Call for Safer and Healthier Working Environments,' stated that mining and quarrying, building, and utilities were the three most dangerous industries globally. ILO in its report reiterates that a strong and resilient National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) System based on social dialogue and involvement is a fundamental right to build a safe and healthy working environment. The report listed the top 10 reasons for occupational deaths wherein long working hours and toxic fumes and particles topped the list. The report stated that by 2016 there were twice the malignancies due to occupational chromium exposure than the year 2000 and asbestos exposure linked mesotheliomas has shot up by 40%. According to the ILO, 79 of the 187 member nations have accepted the International Labour Organization's Occupational Safety and Health Convention, while 62 have ratified the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health Convention, 2006 but neither have been taken up by India. Now following the recent Uttarkashi tunnel incident, The Central Trade Unions had requested the Union government to ratify the ILO conventions.
