IEC (Information Education Communication) materials regarding summer preparedness were planned to be translated into regional languages and disseminated to combat the hotter-than-usual summer that coincides with the general elections. First case of H9N2 in Vietnam Content Editor: Dr. Manjeet Mohanty April 25, 2024 at 2:00:00 PM Disease Outbreaks, Epidemiology, Influenza WHO was alerted to a case of human infection with avian influenza A (H9N2) in Vietnam on April 9, 2024. The patient, a 37-year-old male with underlying conditions, was admitted to intensive care on March 21, after testing positive for influenza via PCR. Subsequent testing confirmed avian influenza A (H9N2) on April 8. Investigation revealed the patient lived near a poultry market, but no sick poultry were reported nearby. Close contacts were monitored, but no new cases were reported. This marks Vietnam's first human case of avian influenza A (H9N2). WHO has assessed the risk to the general population as low. India launches National Medical Register to bolster digital healthcare Content Editor: Dr. Prachi September 10, 2024 at 5:11:58 PM Digital health, National Medical Register The Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, has recently inaugurated the National Medical Register (NMR) Portal of the National Medical Commission (NMC) for the registration of all eligible MBBS doctors in India The NMR is a comprehensive digital database of all allopathic (MBBS) doctors registered in India, mandated under the NMC Act 2019 The NMR is linked to doctors' Aadhaar IDs to ensure authenticity , and will be integrated with the broader digital healthcare ecosystem The online registration process allows doctors to easily update credentials , while State Medical Councils and medical institutions can verify applications through a single platform The NMR aims to provide transparent, up-to-date data on medical professionals, strengthening India's digital health infrastructure and enhancing public trust in the healthcare system The government sees the NMR as a crucial step towards its vision of reforming, performing, and transforming the healthcare sector. Vibrio infection takes a new route! your open wound could be the gateway Content Editor: Himabindu Reddy September 6, 2023 at 12:30:00 PM Communicable diseases, Public health, Water and sanitation, Infection prevention Apart from the well-known vibrio infections caused by the consumption of raw seafood, the V ibrio vulnificus species of Vibrio bacteria can lead to infections by contact of an open wound with raw seafood. Vibrio vulnificus results in fever, discharge, discoloration, pain, and swelling which can also lead to necrotizing fasciitis, with some cases even needing limb amputation. 20% of the cases can also lead to death within a few days of infection. Immunocompromised individuals and those with liver diseases are more prone to severe infections. 03. 81 cr. people to get free foodgrains for one year under National Food Security Act 03. 81 cr. people to get free foodgrains for one year under National Food Security Act December 24, 2022 Press Information Bureau Poverty alleviation programmes The Union Cabinet on Friday decided to provide free foodgrains to all 81 crore beneficiaries covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) for one year. The beneficiary families which used to pay ₹1 for coarse cereals, ₹2 for wheat and ₹3 for rice per kilogram will now get 35 kg of foodgrains a month free of cost for the next one year, and others will get five kilogram free each month till December 2023.
