National Mission For Clean Ganga (NMCG) in association with the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) organized the ‘River-Cities Alliance (RCA) Global Seminar: Partnership for Building International River-Sensitive Cities’ in New Delhi. River Cities Alliance: Joint initiative of the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS) & the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), with a vision to connect river cities and focus on sustainable river centric development. The Purpose of the seminar was to provide a platform for officials of member cities and international stakeholders to discuss and learn good practices for managing urban rivers. Battle brews in Tamil Nadu: NEET exemption sparks controversy Content Editor: Dr. Sumana Mukhopadhyay August 29, 2023 at 12:30:00 PM Medical Education, Laws and policies Tamil Nadu Health Minister M. Subramanian condemned Governor R.N. Ravi's comments on the permanence of NEET and called them deceptive and needless. The Governor's remarks were given at the Raj Bhavan during an occasion honoring the NEET topper. Previously, the State legislature approved a resolution and a bill requesting an NEET exception, which the Governor originally refused to send to the President's office . After the Legislative Assembly re-adopted and re-sent the Bill, the Governor transmitted it to the President for signature. Subramanian stated that the Governor's responsibility ends after the President's consent is received, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the Constitution and cooperating with the administration. In his campaign agenda, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin offered NEET exemption. GDHCN would serve as an online digital database of the citizen's health records for the WHO member states. The EU used its digital certificate system during COVID-19 to fight the pandemic and make international travel easy. The convergence of all the records into one shared repository would serve as a source to deliver better health services to all the member states without the WHO having access to individual data. There should be 241 MD (medical) experts in the state, according to Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) , however, there are only 50 . Only 95 of the 193 needed gynaecologists, 100 of the 231 required anaesthetists, 65 of the 146 required paediatricians, and 75 of the 143 necessary surgeons are present in Haryana. The state only has around 4,000 doctors compared to the 10,000 or more required as per the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines. The main causes of specialist doctors leaving their jobs are thought to be overwork, lack of promotion (they only receive one in their entire career), inadequate pay, unfavourable working conditions, the weight of medical-legal cases and court evidence, a lack of medicines, workplace security concerns, and being denied the status of Class-I officer. By 20th November 2023, there were 684 suspected human cases, including four deaths. A case fatality ratio (CFR) of 0.6% was reported in 44 out of 116 districts in 9 out of 10 Zambian provinces affected, with the Sinazongwe district as the epicenter. The last large-scale outbreak in Zambia was in 2011 with 511 suspected cases. Response to the outbreak is being done from both the human and animal side.
