This year’s theme was "Fulfilling the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations." It sheds light on the global challenges faced by older individuals. It emphasizes Their rights, The need to rectify violations The importance of fostering solidarity between generations Society often employs age as a basis for division, resulting in disparities and a breakdown of intergenerational cohesion. Ageism permeates various aspects of society, from age-based healthcare rationing to limiting younger voices in decision-making. Overcoming ageism is a crucial aspect of the Decade of Healthy Aging (2020-2030). This can be achievable through: Policy changes Education Intergenerational initiatives.     Cyclone hit Mozambique shows rise in Cholera outbreaks Content Editor: Dr. Urmimala Maiti March 24, 2023 at 4:37:31 PM Global Health, Outbreak, Disaster Management Flooding caused by cyclone Freddy caused massive disruption of critical services . Active cholera cases are increasing rapidly due to a lack of safe water and sanitation facilities. More than 2300 cases were reported in the last week. A total of around 10700 since early February. 36 districts across eight provinces of Mozambique reported outbreaks. There is a high risk of outbreaks of other waterborne illnesses , malaria, etc. UNICEF and other civil support groups have supplied water storage and treatment supplies, hygiene kits, soaps, and disinfectants. The "Global task force on Cholera control " aims to reduce cholera deaths by 90% and eliminate disease transmission by 2030 in many countries. Previous Next

    Do digital payments have any effect on the morale of healthcare workers? Content editor: Dr. Anubhav Mondal February 23, 2024 at 2:00:00 PM Healthcare workers, Digital payments WHO has been a leader among international organizations in transitioning from the cumbersome, less secure practice of paying salaries in cash. Over the last few years, the Organisation established its Digital Finance Team and joined the Better Than Cash Alliance to advance payment digitalization efforts. Since its inception in 2020, WHO's Digital Finance Team has designed and implemented digital payment systems in 24 African nations, including last year in Benin, Botswana, Madagascar, Rwanda, Togo, and Zimbabwe. Digital payments also save time and money for health campaign organizers by eliminating the need and price of carrying huge sums of cash and completing paperwork. Workers valued the security of not carrying cash, the ease of no longer having to travel to a location to get their paychecks, and, most importantly, the timeliness of payment.     A new strategy for PPH management Content Editor: Dr. Urmimala Maiti May 13, 2023 at 5:13:31 AM Maternal and Child Health, Research findings Post-partum Hemorrhage (PPH) is a leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide, responsible for 70,000 deaths yearly . The major challenge in PPH management is late detection and response , particularly in low and middle-income countries . A cluster-randomized trial conducted in four countries, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Tanzania , in partnership with the "WHO Collaborating Centre on Global Women's Health" at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, included more than 200000 participants . The study showed a 60% reduction in heavy bleeding compared to routine care using an E-MOTIVE package incorporating WHO -recommended treatment bundles for early detection and treatment of PPH.     Outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis in Odisha - Entomologists on field February 21, 2023 at 8:11:59 PM Japanese Encephalitis, Infectious disease, Outbreak investigation Few girls at a hostel in Balasore district, Odisha suffered from acute encephalitis syndrome (fever, headache, vomiting). A class 10 student died following such symptoms. Of the total of 29 samples, five have tested positive for Japanese encephalitis (JE). As a part of Investigation of reported cases, the Health and Family Welfare Department of Odisha, have sent a team of entomologists in the outbreak area. The National Programme for Prevention and Control of Japanese Encephalitis/ Acute Encephalitis Syndrome has enlisted districts in Assam, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal as priority districts. Since, Odisha is not endemic for JE and as there is no piggery around the child care institution, a detailed report of the outbreak is awaited. Previous Next

Rescuers are working in freezing temperatures with their bare hands to search for survivors and rescue them. The death toll has passed 6200 and is expected to increase further.

The CCRAS was instrumental in developing a micro website for connecting people globally via the global campaign ‘Ayurveda for One Health’. The global success of the campaign was celebrated on having reached 90 Countries and 12 crore people with 14 lakh participating in nearly 15 thousand activities. The holistic idea of Human, Plant, Animal and environmental welfare through Ayurveda to the public by engaging youth, farmers etc.
