Since April 2023, the conflict in Sudan has forcibly displaced 10 million individuals within the country and an additional 2 million to neighboring nations like Chad, South Sudan, Egypt, and the Central African Republic.
Approximately 15 million people urgently require healthcare assistance, but only 26% of the necessary funding has been secured.
Food insecurity plagues 7.6 million people, with 6.3 million facing emergency-level food shortages.
Compounding the crisis are multiple disease outbreaks, including measles, cholera, malaria, dengue, and meningitis.
The situation is dire, with over 3.6 million children and 1.2 million pregnant or breastfeeding women acutely malnourished, and a significant risk of famine in several regions.
Operational efforts include enhanced disease surveillance, support for health facilities, and trauma rehabilitation.
However, challenges persist due to restricted access, security issues, and supply chain disruptions, further exacerbated by the rainy season.
Coordination among 49 partner organizations aims to provide essential services and address gender-based violence. Immediate action and increased support are crucial to mitigate this overwhelming humanitarian catastrophe.
