  • The WHO Results Report 2023, released ahead of the 77th World Health Assembly (27 May - 1 June 2024), indicates the key achievements in the field of health.

  • These include, but not restricted to, the following:

  1. RTS, S/A01 malaria vaccine reaching over 2 million children, 

  2. The R21/Matrix-M vaccine

  3. Elimination of at least one neglected tropical disease from 14 countries

  • Additionally, the first all-oral MDR tuberculosis treatment was introduced, and significant progress was made in reducing industrial trans fats, increasing HIV antiretroviral therapy, declining tobacco use, and expanding HPV vaccination.

  • However, the triple Billion targets are off track. 

  • These targets include 1 billion more people benefiting from universal health coverage, better protection from health emergencies, and improved well-being.
