CDC reports suggest that among the arthropod-borne diseases, the West Nile virus remains on the rise in the US. (3,035 cases).
69% of cases are neuroinvasive, the most common illnesses include:
Encephalitis (64%)
Meningitis (30%)
AFP (2%)
Almost 1,140 neuroinvasive cases have been reported from Arizona alone, topping the list.
The probable causes of the outbreak are:
Late-season rain.
Recent Population growth.
Housing development
16% of all US countries reported at least one case of arboviral disease.
