  • CDC reports suggest that among the arthropod-borne diseases, the West Nile virus remains on the rise in the US. (3,035 cases).

  • 69% of cases are neuroinvasive, the most common illnesses include:

  1. Encephalitis (64%)

  2. Meningitis (30%)

  3. AFP (2%)

  • Almost 1,140 neuroinvasive cases have been reported from Arizona alone, topping the list.

  • The probable causes of the outbreak are:

  1. Late-season rain.

  2. Recent Population growth.

  3. Housing development

  • 16% of all US countries reported at least one case of arboviral disease.
