The WHO suggests using treated nets and indoor spraying to prevent malaria and now extends this advice to other vector-borne diseases.
This supports the Global Vector Control Response Strategy 2017–2030.
The handbook lists five fundamental objectives for the IRS campaign:
Reaching sufficient spray coverage
Ensuring that spraying operations are accepted by the community
Improving the effectiveness and advancement of the spraying operations
Upholding strict guidelines for spray quality
Putting in place thorough monitoring and assessment procedures
This revised manual integrates information from various sources, including the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Manual for Indoor Residual Spraying, the Operational Manual on Leishmaniasis Vector Control, and additional WHO and partner publications.
This new manual's primary objective is to provide comprehensive support for guaranteeing the safe and effective implementation of spray operations, thereby lowering the spread of numerous vector-borne diseases.
