Update on the regulation of the Government and Private medical institutions in India

In December 2022, under the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act 2019, the Government of India established the Medical Assessment and Rating Boarding (MARD).
The functions of the board included assessing and rating all medical institutions (Government and Private) regarding their compliance with the regulations laid down by the NMC.
Similarly, in 2010, The National Council for Clinical Establishments was constituted under the Clinical Establishments (CE) Act.
The council was responsible for the overall registration and regulation of Government (except the armed forces) and Private clinical establishments.
Under this act, the CE is required to fulfill the minimum requirements of-
Facilities and services
Personnel
Maintenance of records
If the registration requirements are not met, it also allows for the cancellation of hospitals' registrations.
