Approximately 3,000 children in southern Gaza have lost access to treatment for acute malnutrition, putting their lives at risk amidst ongoing violence and disruption of healthcare services, reports UNICEF.
This number accounts for about 75% of the 3,800 children receiving care before the conflict intensified.
The rising malnutrition cases are linked to restricted humanitarian access, particularly in Rafah.
Only two out of Gaza's three stabilization centers are operational, with plans for additional centers delayed due to military activities.
Malnourished children are increasingly vulnerable to diseases due to poor water and sanitation.
UNICEF emphasizes that without swift intervention, more children will perish and calls for a ceasefire and improved humanitarian access.
