The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the recent M-Pox outbreak a public health emergency due to the emergence of a new Clade 1b variant, known for its high transmissibility through close contact.
Pakistan's first M-Pox case involved the Clade 2 variant, with a second case confirmed last week.
On August 29, two travelers at Bacha Khan International Airport displayed M-Pox symptoms, with one testing positive.
Authorities are ramping up surveillance and urging the public to remain vigilant, adhere to safety protocols, and report symptoms promptly.
Authorities’ efforts to increase monitoring and enforce public adherence to safety protocols are critical to curbing the spread.
