  • The United States continues its global efforts to combat infectious diseases, including the ongoing Mpox outbreak.

  •  In 2022, the country responded swiftly to the spread of Mpox by improving access to vaccines, tests, and treatments both domestically and globally. 

  • A recent roundtable brought together global health leaders to enhance the response, especially in Africa.

  • The U.S. has pledged $500 million and one million vaccine doses to support African nations in controlling the outbreak, aligning efforts with the Mpox Continental Preparedness and Response Plan. 

  • Support includes training health workers, disease surveillance, and improving laboratory diagnostics. 

  • The US aims to foster partnerships with key institutions like the Africa CDC and WHO aim to build stronger health systems.
