The GST Council, chaired by the Union Finance Minister in the 52nd GST Council meeting, has decided to levy a lower 5% tax on millet-based flour.
This would be eligible when sold in pre-packaged and labeled form.
Flour containing at least 70% millets will attract 0% GST if sold pre-packaged and labeled.
The Council also decided to reduce GST on molasses to 5% from 28%.
The council has also exempted alcohol for human consumption from the levy.
