  • The Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jithendra Singh, flagged off ‘Recycling on Wheels Smart- ER’ as a part of the Swach Bharath Campaign.

  • This initiative has been launched to:

  1. Improve cost reduction during transportation

  2. Improve transportation efficiency

  3. Reducing the e-waste load in the country.

  • Dr. Jithendra Singh emphasized the pivotal role played by Safaimithra.

  • Safaimitra has helped in organizing a:

  1. Proper e-waste disposal system.

  2. Sustainable transportation

  3. Cost-effective transportation

  4. Eco-friendly technology.

  • The ceremony was also preceded by an address by the secretary, Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, who highlighted the Gandhian principle that ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness.’

  • She also added that the CSIR labs across the country are engaged in the herculean but achievable task of scrapping off both physical and e-waste.
