Women welfare, Safety, Security

The Ministry of External Affairs' proposal for nine One-Stop Centres (OSCs) for distressed Indian women abroad has been approved. Seven OSCs will have shelter homes in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia (Jeddah and Riyadh), and two will have no shelter in Toronto and Singapore.
A Budget line has been opened for these 9 Missions.
The Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) in Indian Missions abroad supports welfare activities for Overseas Indian citizens, including assistance for distressed women.
Revised ICWF guidelines (effective September 1, 2017) expand welfare activities to include legal assistance, emergency care, and support for women deserted by overseas spouses.
