  • The Trade Union Consultation Committee (TUCC) presented their demands at the pre-budget consultation meeting with the Finance Minister.

  • They called for ASHA, Anganwadi, and mid-day meal workers, who face similar risks as organized sector workers, to be recognized as permanent employees and included in social security schemes.

  • The TUCC also urged recognizing domestic help as workers, who constitute a significant portion of urban unorganized workers, to ensure their social security coverage.

  • Additionally, they emphasized extending social welfare to gig workers, who are more prone to health issues.

  • The heatwave significantly impacted food delivery workers and construction site workers.

  • Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh demanded increased funding to boards under special categories- beedi, fisheries, agriculture.
