Medical education, NMC Bill

India's medical education system is poised for significant transformation with the impending implementation of the National Medical Commission Bill 2019.
Recently, the Rajya Sabha passed the bill with two amendments, which the Lok Sabha also approved.
The bill aims to replace the controversial Medical Council of India (MCI) with a new regulatory body, the National Medical Commission (NMC).
Despite resistance from the medical community, the NMC seeks to bring transparency and quality to medical education.
The bill will introduce reforms like:
National Exit Test (NEXT) for MBBS graduates,
A single National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET),
Guidelines for course fees in private medical institutions
The Government is yet to issue further details and procedures.
