  • The essential elements for good menstrual health are safe, acceptable, and reliable supplies to manage menstruation, privacy to change, a safe and private wash facility, and the ability to make informed choices.

  • It is of utmost urgency that health and development policies prioritize menstrual health, as this issue intersects with human rights, public health, gender equality, and sustainable development.

  • Policies should be targeted to eliminate period poverty, as in low-income countries where girls still struggle to afford menstrual products and have only limited access to sanitation services.

  • UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) has taken measures to reach people through education initiatives, safe sanitation facilities,  such as in displacement camps, and dignity kits, such as supplies and underwear.
