There hasn't been an instance of measles in Michigan since 2019.
However, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has disclosed that a young child in Oakland County has contracted the disease through importation as there were no additional exposures outside the child's household.
In other measles news from the US, two additional cases have been recorded in Broward County, Florida;
However, it is unclear if these cases are related to an outbreak that occurred at an elementary school.
As of right now, Broward County has eight instances reported, according to state data.
Six instances were included in the elementary school cluster, according to earlier reports.
Officials are urging unvaccinated people ages 1 and older to receive the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine.
