Maharashtra Government announces new Covid Taskforce

The Maharashtra government has established a new COVID task force to address the spread of infections and develop strategies for managing serious and critical Covid-19 patients.
The former head of Epidemiology and Communicable diseases at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Dr Raman Gangakhedkar, will lead a 7-member task COVID-19 force
The task force‘s responsibilities entail;
Establishing protocols for the management of serious and critical Covid-19 patients
Staffing recommendations in critical care hospitals
Suggesting drug protocols for efficient treatment of severely ill COVID patients.
The aim is to detect COVID-like illnesses as well as identify emerging diseases within clusters.
Following this, the test positivity rate of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra on December 27, 2023, declined to 1% compared to 1.3% on the previous day.
