Maharashtra-based Jan Arogya Abhiyan seeks to advocate the “Right to Health Care and Health for All”.
The Abhiyan is actively partaking in drawing up the ‘People’s Health Manifesto-2024’ in collaboration with frontline workers and health activists.
Current Scenario:
Maharashtra’s health budget allocations are among India’s lowest.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme falls short of providing comprehensive coverage.
Health workers face immense pressure to meet government-imposed data targets, hampering their clinical and fieldwork.
Lack of manpower and resources.
The ‘People’s Health Manifesto-2024’s recommendations include:
Boosting public health expenditure.
Elevating the scope, quality, sensitivity, and accountability of services.
Adopting the Tamil Nadu model for pharmaceutical procurement.
Institutionalizing community-based monitoring and health service planning.
Prioritizing mental health services.
Crafting policies for various marginalized social groups.
Establishing a universal health system, mirroring Thailand’s model, and ensuring fair and free healthcare for all.
