A Study conducted among 1200 household contacts of Pulmonary TB patients from Tiruvallur District tested for Interferon Gamma Release Assay(IGRA), a total 520 (43%) were positive for Latent Tuberculosis Infection(LTBI). Among 520 cases diagnosed, 62.3% were female and 59% of the LTBI was observed between 15 - 44 Age group. So Early diagnosis and treatment of LTBI among household contacts of TB patients are important strategy to reduce the TB disease burden in the community.
