A spurt in Dengue cases occurred in Kolkata in the last month leading to nearly 1000 cases and 10 deaths.
Following an inspection of two public sector undertaking (PSU) sites, the Kolkata municipal corporation found several stagnant water sites and unused tyres in the sites, which could be the cause of the Dengue cases rising in Kolkata.
KMC complained that they had sent notices to the central authority owning the PSU but no action was taken by them to eliminate the vector breeding sites.
KMC stressed that since the property belonged to central government the responsibility of its maintenance was theirs and if action was not taken to clear the mosquito breeding areas inside them,KMC would file a case in court for the same.
