Universal Health Care, Disability Care, Important days

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), observed on December 3, underscores global efforts to amplify the voices and leadership of persons with disabilities (PwDs).
This year’s theme, “Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future,” highlights the critical role of PwDs in creating equitable opportunities.
India has made remarkable progress in fostering inclusivity through key initiatives like,
Accessible India Campaign- Improving Built Environment Accessibility in public spaces, enhancing Transportation Accessibility for independent mobility, expanding Sign Language Access
Deendayal Divyangjan Rehabilitation Scheme
District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC)
Unique Disability Identification Project
Divya Kala Mela, a national fair celebrating the craftsmanship of differently-abled artisans, reflects India's dedication to empowering PwDs.
Programs like PM-DAKSH (Pradhan Mantri Dakshta Aur Kushalta Sampann Hitgrahi) further provide skill development and employment pathways for PwDs, ensuring economic independence.
Through the Schemes for Implementation of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act (SIPDA), India promotes accessibility, skill development, and early intervention to support holistic development.
The IDPD reminds us that achieving an inclusive and sustainable world requires the full participation of all individuals, reinforcing India’s commitment to a future built on equity and empowerment.
