The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has successfully conducted a trial run of delivering blood bags by drones under its iDrone initiative.       

The iDrone was first used during the COVID-19 pandemic for distributing vaccines to unreachable areas. 

Following the successful delivery of blood and blood-related products, Investigators from LHMC, GIMS, and JIIT will conduct further drone flight trials to validate the quality of packed red blood cells, FFPs, and platelets in this study.       

This study's results will provide scientific evidence from India to examine the impact of drone transportation on blood products. 

These findings will lead to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for wider applicability.
