The National Programme for Climate Change and Human Health has issued guidelines for protection from heat waves, specifically for Employers and workers.
The four main strategies include:
Stay Hydrated
Stay Indoors
Stay Alert
Stay Covered
The guidelines are as follows:-
To maintain the availability of cool drinking water facilities with a reminder, and avoid hot beverages, including sugary and carbonated drinks.
To stay covered and avoid direct sunlight, specifically during peak afternoon hours.
To identify and recognize heat-related symptoms for fellow workers and provide immediate care on the spot.
To be alert to weather forecasts through various media sources.
Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing with long sleeves to have a covered head.
To make working conditions hospitable and equipped with proper first-aid kits and awareness regarding all necessary recommendations.
To maintain a slower pace of work during peak times and proper rest and time off for employees.
