  • The National Programme for Climate Change and Human Health has issued guidelines for protection from heat waves, specifically for Employers and workers.

  • The four main strategies include:

  1. Stay Hydrated

  2. Stay Indoors

  3. Stay Alert

  4. Stay Covered

  • The guidelines are as follows:-

  1. To maintain the availability of cool drinking water facilities with a reminder, and avoid hot beverages, including sugary and carbonated drinks.

  2. To stay covered and avoid direct sunlight, specifically during peak afternoon hours.

  3. To identify and recognize heat-related symptoms for fellow workers and provide immediate care on the spot.

  4. To be alert to weather forecasts through various media sources.

  5. Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing with long sleeves to have a covered head.

  6. To make working conditions hospitable and equipped with proper first-aid kits and awareness regarding all necessary recommendations.

  7. To maintain a slower pace of work during peak times and proper rest and time off for employees.
