  • The Indian Navy aligns with India's low-carbon strategies, focusing on renewable energy for a 'Cleaner and Greener' environment.

  • On World Environment Day 2024, the Navy emphasized the need for land restoration, drought resilience, and carbon footprint reduction.

  • A few initiatives the Navy has taken to reiterate this vision include:

  1. Signing an MoU with the HCL Foundation and the Habitats Trust to enhance coastal ecosystems and protect endangered marine species.

  2. The Indian Navy supports the GoI's LiFE initiative with energy-saving measures, renewable energy projects, e-vehicles, water conservation, and other measures per GRIHA III norms.

  3. Conduct monthly coastal cleanups, partnering with local bodies for waste disposal and recycling as part of the ‘Clean India Campaign’.

  4. Testing of innovative technologies to reduce emissions, including a retrofit device by Chakr Innovations and hydrogen aspiration technology for ships and shore establishments

  5. Installation of solar-powered appliances and promoting environmental responsibility through community events, solidifying its identity as a "Blue Water Force with Green Footprint".
