Over the past ten years, the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has approved the establishment of 97 new ESI hospitals across India, enhancing access to comprehensive medical care for insured individuals and their families.
ESIC provides a wide range of medical services, including consultations, treatments, medications, and hospitalizations, through a network of 165 hospitals and 1,590 dispensaries nationwide.
Additionally, partnerships with public and private hospitals ensure cashless inpatient services when ESIC facilities are unavailable.
To further improve healthcare delivery, ESIC has collaborated with the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) to offer secondary and tertiary medical services through PMJAY-empanelled hospitals in areas lacking adequate ESIC services.
The organization has also launched online modules for updating insured persons' details and facilitating Aadhaar-based authentication to streamline access to benefits.
Recent initiatives include increased rates for Permanent Disablement Benefit and Dependents’ Benefits, as well as a new scheme providing medical care, including super specialty treatment, for superannuated beneficiaries who contributed to ESIC but exited coverage before retirement
