A longitudinal meta-analysis was conducted to compare stress levels, rate of anxiety, and depression among the youth between pre-pandemic and post-pandemic situations.
The results of the meta-analysis involved 40,807 subjects from 53 longitudinal studies from 12 countries.
Studies provided stronger estimates of depressive changes among girls, kids, and teens from families with medium to high income.
The technology reliance of children increased as they had nowhere and no one to go and play with amidst the lockdown.
Exceeding the temporal trend estimation, there was an increase in the number of new patients diagnosed and treated with depression.
