Indian scientists have discovered an entirely new species of mosquito named Culex katezari, after Katezari village in Gadchiroli, where it was first detected in 2014 as a part of the insect surveillance activity. The new species belongs to culex group and had new wing-band pattern. On January 3, Culex katezari entered into Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS), which tracks all of the planet biological species, under the serial number 1151933.
