The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi have formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on December 17, 2024. This alliance aims to leverage their combined expertise to enhance medical research and healthcare delivery in India.
The collaboration will concentrate on joint research projects, knowledge sharing, and the development of innovative medical technologies, devices, and diagnostics. By integrating CSIR's scientific research capabilities with AIIMS's clinical insights, the partnership seeks to address pressing health challenges and improve patient outcomes.
As part of this initiative, CSIR's Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CSIR-CCMB) in Hyderabad has also entered into an MoU with AIIMS. This agreement focuses on specific research projects and grants AIIMS access to CSIR-CCMB's facilities, further strengthening the collaborative efforts.
Professor M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership's potential to explore new frontiers in healthcare research and translate findings into practical applications for patient care. Dr. Vinay Nandicoori, Director of CSIR-CCMB, highlighted the involvement of multiple CSIR laboratories in areas such as affordable healthcare, drug development, and early cancer detection, underscoring the comprehensive nature of the collaboration
