The Sudanese Health Minister, Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, officially declared the outbreak of cholera within Sudan after the WHO announced that 11327 cases of cholera with 316 deaths had been seen.
The actual numbers are feared to be worse than reported.
The announcement followed positive reports of cholera from samples of watery diarrhea sent to the Public Health Laboratory.
Meanwhile, the recent monsoon period has worsened the situation, with cases of dengue and malaria on the rise.
The conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the insurgent Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has exacerbated the epidemic scenario.
