• The Working Group on Amendments to the IHR (WGIHR) convened for the eighth time from February 5–9, 2024.

• On March 8, there will be a discussion to conclude this seventh round.

• This Working Group will establish the framework for the next ten years of collective security and worldwide surveillance in the event of health emergencies, especially high-impact epidemics.

• Governments concentrated on fine-tuning changes to articles and annexes that were in a more advanced negotiation stage during the most recent talks.

• Additionally, they had in-depth discussions about the pandemic continuum, public health alerts, and public health emergencies of international significance (PHEIC).

• At the WGIHR's eighth meeting in April 2024, proposed changes to foundational articles of the Regulations and provisions about governance will be discussed to finalize the package of adjustments that will be presented to the Seventy-seventh World Health Assembly for consideration in May 2024.
