Safai Apnao, Bimaari Bhagao aims to mitigate public health risks associated with the monsoon season, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) is implementing the "Safai Apnao, Bimaari Bhagao" initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0.
The key objectives of the campaign are:
To achieve a visibly cleaner urban environment through intensified cleaning drives, waste management, and maintenance of sanitation infrastructure.
To mitigate the spread of waterborne and vector-borne diseases, aligning with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's 'STOP Diarrhea Campaign.'
To ensure a coordinated and comprehensive response between MoHUA, the Ministry of Health, and local urban bodies.
To educate citizens on hygiene practices and the importance of maintaining a clean environment through public awareness campaigns
SABB will be implemented from July 1st to August 31st, 2024, with key strategies including:
Rapid assessments of high-risk areas
Training for local communities and officials
Water quality monitoring and provision of safe drinking water
Advocacy and awareness-building campaigns.
