• Severe cases of pneumonia or lung infections lead to a greater decline in oxygen saturation in Covid 19 in comparison to the flu.

• The ability to taste and smell is also more commonly affected in Covid 19.

• Patients with Covid 19 are more infectious as they can spread the disease for a few days before till up to a week after symptoms subside. Meanwhile, people with the flu are contagious for 1-2 days before symptoms arise, according to the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

• The symptoms are more severe with Covid 19. They can even lead to a multi-organ inflammatory response in some severe cases.

• If the person suffers from viral illnesses in an area with more number of Covid 19 cases, they should get tested.

• No vaccines currently exist for sub variants of Covid 19, unlike the annual shots for the flu. Previous vaccines may provide some cross protection but the effect of the same is waning for Covid 19.
